ACES alumni establish new ag education program, building for high school students

The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at Illinois has been a leader in agricultural education since its founding, turning out scores of teachers who inspire the next generation. Now, an ACES alumnus has helped revitalize agricultural education in his local district with the development of an agriculture education building and program at Meridian High School in Macon, Illinois.

Gift named for Dr. Jerry Walker honors alumnus and belief in quality science education

Dr. Jerry A. Walker (BS, ’69) and Christine Walker, his wife, both earned advanced degrees in chemistry, worked in the pharmaceutical industry, and shared an unwavering belief that there is no substitute for a quality education in the sciences.
Christine Walker said that establishing the Jerry A. Walker Endowed Chair at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in honor and memory of her late husband is an expression of these beliefs.
