OVCIA Cabinet Retreat

Quarterly opportunity for cabinet members to have space for deeper discussion with the goal of identifying topics in need of further discussion/decision and that we would then use the weekly Cabinet Meetings or monthly L-Team Meetings to have said decision-making discussions on any of the topics identified from the retreats.

Advancement Leadership Council

The Advancement Leadership Council is a new meeting series that began this year. It’s objective is to bring together advancement and academic leadership to address and discuss institutional philanthropic and engagement issues affecting the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and develop strategies to achieve best-in-class fundraising success.


Advancement Meet-Ups

OVCIA’s quarterly Advancement Meet-Ups are an opportunity for Illinois advancement staff to connect with counterparts, colleagues in different specialty areas, and leadership in an informal setting. In response to feedback from our community, Meet-Ups are always held in person and lunch is provided.

Strategic Planning and Organizational Development

This is a monthly meeting with Katie Harrell, Senior Director of Strategic Planning and Organizational Development, and the Cabinet members where we discuss strategy and ongoing work to improve the systems that support our advancement strategy (things like goal setting, systems and programs we’ve developed to support qualification efforts, reporting, policy and process updates, etc.).


Advancement Town Halls

Twice a year gathering of advancement staff from Illinois, University of Illinois Foundation (UIF), and University of Illinois Alumni Association (UIAA) with the goal of fostering connections between staff and advancement specific programming meant to encourage transparency and communication around topics that impact our collective work.

University of Illinois Foundation (UIF) coordinated meeting of executive advancement leadership from the three universities, UIF, and the University of Illinois Alumni Association (UIAA) with the goal of building relationships, inspiring each other, and leveraging collective knowledge and expertise to enable our teams to achieve their goals.

B1G Ten Development Conference
July 9-11, 2024

Illinois is this year’s host for the Big Ten Development Conference, which invites member universities to learn and share best practices related to fundraising trends, strengths, and challenges across campuses to further attendees’ professional development and knowledge. This year’s conference will host approximately 200 leaders and professionals from across our 18 institutions, which include many of the largest universities representing constituents across the United States and the world.


CASE Summit
July 22-24, 2024

The CASE Summit for Leaders in Advancement brings together thought leaders at the peak of their advancement careers from around the world and across advancement disciplines for an exchange on the strategies and insights required to lead in an ever-changing environment.
