Priorities

Scholarship Fund

Scholarships for Carle Illinois students are one way we remove barriers to their success and enable them to focus on what is truly important to their education: becoming physician-innovators. Without the financial burden of full medical school tuition, medical scholars can pursue the ideas both during school and afterwards that will change the way medicine is practiced. Scholarships help to recruit a highly-qualified, diverse student body that better reflects patient populations. They also enable Carle Illinois trained physicians, through innovative technologies, to serve our most vulnerable populations and take creative risks with ideas to improve patient health and wellness.

Innovation Fund

At Carle Illinois, we foster creativity and facilitate translation of innovation from research, curriculum and design projects to improve healthcare delivery, quality and access, and ultimately lead to lower healthcare cost delivery. The Innovation Fund will provide our medical students with the resources to implement their classroom and clinical training into design ideas and prototypes. This radically new approach to medical education is intended to develop physicians-innovators who are self-directed, life-long learners. Additionally, the Innovation Fund will help to democratize healthcare through “Make-a-Thon” competitions* to encourage anyone with a way to improve healthcare delivery with an option to move that idea forward. Carle Illinois College of Medicine needs your support to ensure we recruit and retain leading scholars and physician-scientists, and provide them with unrivaled research support. Our unique interdisciplinary faculty model harnesses the expertise of world-class researchers from ten different colleges at Illinois and Carle’s physician leaders. With unparalleled depth and breadth, expert researchers in everything from engineering to molecular biology, from nutrition to cancer, from sociology to fine arts will provide high-touch guidance and mentorship to Carle Illinois students throughout their training. Students will work with faculty, who guide them in developing high-impact solutions to healthcare’s greatest challenges.
